‘Great News’ ‘What’s The Point In This?’ Fans On Social Media React To £35K A Week Celtic Star’s Contract Extension

Celtic manager Neil Lennon has confirmed that winger Scott Sinclair has had his contract extended for a further 12 months.

The 30-year-old is the club’s highest earner, reportedly earning £35,000 a week, but despite that, the club have opted to keep him.

Fans on Twitter had a mixed reaction to the news, with some questioning the thinking behind the move:

Celtic could be looking to protect their investment with Middlesbrough reportedly interested in signing the former Swansea player.

If the Scottish club hadn’t renewed his contract, he could have left for nothing at the end of the season but Boro could now offer £2m for the winger in the summer, reports suggest.

Sinclair has been in decent form this campaign, having scored 17 goals in 49 appearances for the Hoops. However, his game time since the arrival of Lennon has been reduced, and it will be up to the current Celtic boss or his successor whether he has a future at Parkhead.
