Hammond Watches French Starlet In Action As Celtic Line Up January Swoop

Celtic’s Head of Football Operations Nick Hammond was in the stands to watch Airdrie winger Thomas Robert in action against East Fife last weekend, according to reports in the Scottish media.

The Hoops also had a scout in attendance to see the young Frenchman play versus Montrose yesterday suggesting that the Scottish champions are serious about making a move for the 20-year-old.

Robert, the son of former Newcastle star Laurent Robert, moved to Airdrieonians from Montpellier’s reserve side back in July and his performances in League One have come to the attention of a number of teams.

Rangers, Hearts, Dundee United and a quite of few English sides are keeping an eye on the winger, with Airdrie reportedly prepared for offers from interested clubs next month.

If Robert were to move to Celtic Park, it’s doubtful that he’d be considered for first-team selection straight away, with the player having only made 11 senior appearances in his career so far.
