Hasenhuttl Delivers Transfer Hint About Celtic’s Chances Of Signing Forster

Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl has admitted that the English Premier League club will have to lower their demands for some of the players they are trying to sell this summer.

Celtic currently have Fraser Forster on loan until the end of the season, but there have been differing reports on the price it would take to sign him on a permanent basis, with some suggesting £10m while others have claimed it could be as high as £25m.

However, Hasenhuttl says he is aware that the Saints will need to reduce their asking prices in order to offload certain players:

“You have to remember that the players we want to sell will also be worth less money. It has an impact on every club.”

Whether they will lower their demands to a level that Celtic would accept, it remains to be seen. The other key problem will be Forster’s wages.

The 31-year-old is reportedly on £70,000 a week, and although there have been suggestions that he would be prepared to take a pay cut to make his move to Celtic Park permanent, the current state of the Hoops finances may put any such deal in question.
