“He’s A Top, Top Player…” Carter Vickers Delivers Verdict On 60M Rated Ukrainian Ace Who Could Make EPL Switch

Celtic defender Cameron Carter-Vickers believes the hype about Shakhtar Donetsk winger Mykhaylo Mudryk is very much justified.

The Ukrainian international scored the equaliser against the Hoops earlier this week and, when asked whether he was one of the best players he has come up against, Carter-Vickers replied:

“I would say so. He’s very direct, very quick. He’s now scored two goals against us in two games, so you can see he’s also a very good finisher. He’s a top, top player with unbelievable pace. He’s a big threat. Listen, we of course knew that before the game. But obviously it’s still hard to deal with someone of that kind of pace.”

Mudryk has been heavily linked with a number of English Premier League clubs, including Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City. Shakhtar have also reportedly slapped a €70m (£60m) price tag on the winger so it is not surprising that he caused Ange Postecoglou‘s side so much trouble.

From Celtic’s perspective, though, the game on Tuesday night kind of summed up the Scottish club’s Champions League campaign. They have been able to create chances against all of their opponents but their lack of cutting edge has cost them.

It will be a learning experience for every player in the squad, including Carter-Vickers, and they will be hoping to have more luck if they return to the group stages next season.
