“He’s Not The Answer” Sutton Hopes He Has Seen The Last Of Celtic Defender Following Deadline Day Deal

Ex-Celtic striker is hoping Greg Taylor’s days as a wingback are numbered after the arrival of Diego Laxalt on loan from AC Milan before deadline day.

Taylor’s performances have been criticised this season with the fullback failing to offer much in the final third of the pitch, and Sutton wants the Scottish international to be taken out of the team and replaced with the club’s newest signing:

“Celtic certainly needed to do something down the left-hand side. We have been crying out for weeks. I feel for Greg Taylor but he’s not the answer. If Laxalt hits the ground running, then that will be a really good piece of business.”

As Sutton mentions, if Laxalt is a success, it could really have a massive impact on results going forward. Jeremie Frimpong has been very effective on the right-hand side and having someone on the opposite flank, who can present the same threat as the Dutchman, is vital to the 3-5-2 system working in the long term.

Laxalt’s assist and goal record isn’t exactly stellar, but having an experienced Uruguayan international playing in a position he is comfortable in should improve the club’s chances of winning matches.
