Ex-Celtic player Davie Provan believes a win against Rangers at Ibrox next month could well seal the title for the Hoops.
The match comes straight after the international break and, with Ange Postecoglou‘s side already having a three-point lead over their rivals, Provan claims a victory on enemy territory may prove decisive in finishing top of the table:
“I think Celtic are playing for the title on April 3rd. I think that’s how big it is for both teams obviously. But I think Celtic will go to Ibrox knowing if they win that day, they have more or less won the title.”
It should be pointed out that there will still be six games to go even after the derby, but it could well prove to be a decisive blow psychologically.
The pendulum swung after the last match between the two teams in early February and the momentum that such a big win could generate may well be enough to get Celtic over the line.
It’s probably wise not to look too far ahead, though. Postecoglou’s men face Ross County at home this weekend, and that should be the players’ sole focus at the moment.
