Journalist Provides Update On Celtic’s Interest In Chelsea Defender Who Has Been Described As The ‘New John Terry’

Football.Scotland deputy editor Mark Hendry has moved to quash speculation linking Chelsea defender Levi Colwill with a loan move to Celtic.

Rumours had spread online that the teenager could be a target for Hoops boss Ange Postecoglou but Hendry has made it clear that the Scottish champions are not pursuing the centre-back:

Colwill has been described as the “new John Terry” by some sections of the media south of the border and he is an extremely talented young footballer.

However, with the likes of Arsenal, Brighton, Southampton and Leicester also vying for the 19-year-old’s services, it’s hard to see Celtic being able to compete financially.

There is even talk that Colwill will leave Stamford Bridge on a permanent basis, and Chelsea would probably demand a sizeable fee for the centre-half. With that being the case, it’s unsurprising that the Hoops are looking elsewhere to strengthen their options at the back.
