Jurgen Klopp’s Stance On Loaning Out 6.5M Liverpool Starlet Revealed As Celtic And Rangers Both Circle

Outside of Celtic Park

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is not expected to sanction a loan move for Calvin Ramsay, according to reports in the English media.

The Reds have agreed a £6.5m fee for the teenager, but it is believed that Celtic, Rangers and a number of English Championship teams were hopeful of signing him on a temporary basis next season.

However, it is thought that Ramsay will be part of Klopp’s first-team plans, with the player set to be deployed in a number of different positions due to his adaptability and technical ability.

Although the 18-year-old is ostensibly a right-back, he was deployed in midfield by Aberdeen on the odd occasion last campaign, and he is likely to be a useful squad player.

Considering Hoops boss Ange Postecoglou already has Josip Juranovic and Anthony Ralston who can play on the right-hand side, it is somewhat surprising that the Scottish champions were even interested in Ramsay. The main priority in defence is a new left-back, with Lanus’s Alexandro Bernabei the man identified as a key target.
