Kieran Devlin Confirms That 4.5M Celtic Flop Will Be Sent Packing In January

Celtic goalkeeper Vasilis Barkas is expected to be sold or loaned out when the January transfer window opens, according to The Athletic journalist Kieran Devlin.

The Greek international has struggled since arriving from AEK Athens for £4.5m in 2020 and he has only made one matchday squad in the league so far this season.

It is believed that Joe Hart, Scott Bain and even teenager Tobi Oluwayemi are all favoured ahead of Barkas by manager Ange Postecoglou, with the shot-stopper seemingly having played his last game for the Hoops:

A return to Greece is the most likely outcome for the 27-year-old, who lost his place as the regular starter just a few months after his arrival at Parkhead, under previous boss Neil Lennon.

There will be a few fans that will argue Barkas was not afforded enough time (considering he has only made 23 appearances for Celtic), but he never convinced in the games he played in for the club.
