Lennon Confirms Celtic Are Actively Seeking To Sign Player In One Key Position

Outside of Celtic Park

Celtic manager Neil Lennon says the club are on the hunt to sign a new striker. The Hoops have been linked with a number of forwards this summer and the Irishman has confirmed they are actively looking to improve their options up front:

“It’s the most important position on the pitch. We’ve had a few injuries and absentees in that department, so if there is a quality one available and we think it’s the right thing to do, we will pursue it.”

“We’ll take a view on the squad later on down the line. It’ll be a club decision whether we see it as value for money.”

One player who was a target but is seemingly not seen as worthy of his price tag is Peterborough’s Ivan Toney. The Hoops reportedly tabled a £5m offer for the striker last week, but the Posh are holding out for double that amount.

West Ham’s Albian Ajeti has also been linked with a loan move to Celtic Park but the Swiss international is said to be considering his options before committing to a switch.

Other names that have been mentioned include Wolsfberger’s Shon Weissman and Union Berlin’s Sebastian Andersson but, at this stage, it doesn’t seem as though that a move for a new number nine is close.
