Lennon Reveals When He Hopes Second Summer Signing Will Be Confirmed

Celtic manager Neil Lennon is hoping to have the signing of Rapid Vienna left-back Boli Mbombo wrapped up by tomorrow.

The player registration deadline for the Champions League tie against FK Sarajevo is on Thursday and the Hoops boss is hoping he will be able to pick the 22-year-old in both legs:

“We are not too far away and he will be another good addition to the squad. He gives us competition at left-back, he’s strong, athletic and good on the ball. He fits the criteria and hopefully, he’ll be in before Thursday.”

Mbombo will reportedly cost £3m and he will come in to provide competition on the left-hand side for Kieran Tierney, following Emilio Izaguirre’s departure on a free transfer at the start of the month.

Tierney’s future is, though, very much up in the air. Arsenal have not returned with a second bid for the fullback and it is believed Napoli have now edged ahead of the Gunners in the race for the defender.

Lennon has confirmed that the 22-year-old does have an asking price but no club has so far matched the Scottish club’s valuation. Celtic supporters will be hoping that it stays that way.
