Celtic have confirmed the signing of Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Liam Shaw after agreeing compensation for the 20-year-old with the Owls.
It is officially the Hoops’ first capture of the summer, despite the deal being in the offing for a number of months, and supporters on Twitter have mixed feelings about the transfer:

He’ll finish next season on loan to league 2 club.

Fans should probably hold off from making any definitive judgements about the player until he is given a number of runouts in the green and white hoops.
Of course, there are no guarantees that Shaw will make it as a regular first-team starter. The midfielder has only made 28 senior appearances in his career, with four of those being National League games for Chesterfield during a loan spell.
However, the fact that Wednesday were so frustrated to lose Shaw with his contract expiring suggests they know they’ve lost a player with big potential. It will be hoped that he can show his abilities in a Celtic shirt in the not too distant future.
