Lustig Speaks Out On Whether He Will Be At Celtic Next Season

Celtic right-back Mikael Lustig has hinted that he will extend his stay a the Scottish club beyond the end of the season.

The Swedish international’s current deal expires in the summer, and when asked about his future whilst away with the national team, the defender replied:

“You can wonder as much as you want, but I have a contract with Celtic and I think I’ll play there next year too.”

So far, Lustig has not agreed an extension to the contract he signed back in January 2017, meaning he will be able to speak to foreign clubs in just six weeks time about a move next season.

The 31-year-old has spent almost seven years at Parkhead, following a free transfer switch from Rosenborg in January 2012.

During that time, Lustig has played 254 times for the Glasgow side, and he remains very much part of manager Brendan Rodgers’ first-team plans.

The fullback has started 11 out of 12 league games this campaign, mostly as a right back. He has also captained the side in recent matches in the absence of injured Scott Brown.
