Premier League Star Drops Celtic Hint As He Raises Doubts Over La Liga Switch

Brighton goalkeeper Maty Ryan has indicated that he may prefer a switch to Celtic, rather than moving to Spain.

The Australian international, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Arsenal, had been linked with a move to Real Sociedad but, when he was asked cryptically about his future, by the way of a food analogy, Ryan initially claimed he was favouring Haggis over Paella, before rowing back on his answer:

“Haggis every day of the week … Celtic. Nah, at the minute I’m on the fence. I’m not sure what I fancy, what my taste buds are craving just now. I’ll have to wait and see. At the minute, just nothing. I’m just waiting and seeing. Until, I guess, I get a bit of a craving to find out.”

Hoops boss Ange Postecoglou does know Ryan very well, having been his manager for the Australian national team, but there are doubts over whether a goalkeeper is a priority position that needs reinforcing.

Postecoglou has made it known publicly that he wants to strengthen the first-team squad significantly but he has also backed Vasilis Barkas to make an impact at the club after the Greek international struggled during his first season at Parkhead.

Whether Ryan’s suggestion that he would be open to moving north of the border will change Postecoglou’s stance, we shall have to wait and see.
