New Celtic signing Alistair Johnston has hinted that former Hoops star Victor Wanyama could join him at Parkhead.
The Kenyan, who played for the Scottish club between 2011 and 2013, had a key role in persuading Johnston to make the switch to Glasgow, with both having been FC Montreal teammates. In an Instagram post (which has subsequently been deleted), Johnston replied to a message from Wanyama about playing at Paradise by saying:
“Where ‘we’ will be playing”.
Unsurprisingly, this got a lot of fans on Twitter talking about Wanyama’s potential return to the Bhoys, with there being a mixed reaction to the possibility:
If Wanyama is coming back to Celtic I imagine he's here to be the guy James McCarthy was meant to be.
No way at this stage of his career would he be a regular first team player. pic.twitter.com/XvAUn4EBDs

It could well be the case that Johnson is just being mischievous, getting the supporters worked up when there isn’t really any prospect of Wanyama moving back to Celtic. At 31, the former Southampton and Tottenham midfielder could still cut it at the highest level but whether he would be a good fit for Ange Postecoglou’s style of play is another matter.
