Celtic have made a bid for Slovan Bratislava forward Andraz Sporar, according to the club’s president Ivan Kmotrik. Following initial denials, manager Neil Lennon has also confirmed the club’s interest.
However, the Hoops boss has denied that the club have made a formal offer for the player, simply stating the Slovenian is just one of a number of possible options on their shortlist of targets:
“He’s an option and one of a number that we’re looking at – we haven’t made a bid.”
Supporters on Twitter believe Sporar could well add an extra dimension to Celtic’s attack:
Oh my get him in pic.twitter.com/N2qQWt3IgW

Good player by the looks of it, get him in for 5 mill and he’s Edouard a successor in the summer.

Decent record. Ironically his poorest spell was the 2 seasons that Elyounoussi was at Basel pic.twitter.com/6i1YICbK0d

There’s no doubt that the Scottish champions have been heavily reliant on Odsonne Edouard up front. Although goals have been shared around the team, with both Ryan Christie and James Forrest also getting into double figures, bringing in another striker would certainly help to spread around the workload.
Sporar has scored 130 goals in 248 senior appearances but it must be said that he has never played in one of Europe’s top leagues. Whether he would merit a £6m-£7m outlay, it remains to be seen.
