Postecoglou Addresses Speculation That Celtic Could Make SIXTH January Signing Before Window Closes

Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou has refused to rule out further signings before the January transfer window shuts on Monday.

The Hoops have already snapped up the likes of Daizen Maeda, Reo Hatate, Yosuke Ideguchi, Johnny Kenny and Matt O’Riley this month but, despite so many new additions, Postecoglou says the club is still ready to move if another opportunity presents itself:

“We will stay alert and agile, there still could be some things that happen. We’re still looking at loans for a couple of our younger players. I’m sure there’ll still be some activity between now and the end – what sort of activity that is, we’ll just see how it all develops. From our perspective, our planning has gone to schedule so far and hopefully, that continues until the end of the window.”

The main position that supporters want to see addressed is left-back. With Boli Bolingoli deemed surplus to requirements and Adam Montgomery expected to move on loan to Kilmarnock, the inexperienced Liam Scales is the only player that can provide backup for Greg Taylor.

Postecoglou has deployed right-back Josip Juranovic out on the left flank frequently but the Croatian never really looks comfortable playing there, having to cut in onto his stronger foot.

Derby County’s Lee Buchanan and Barnsley’s Callum Styles have been linked in recent months but, so far, the Scottish side have not stepped up their interest in either player.
