Postecoglou Provides Promising Update On Celtic’s January Transfer Plans

Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou says the club are on track to bring in new signings “early” next month.

The 56-year-old would not be drawn on specific names when asked about his transfer plans, but he says, while there have been issues in terms of negotiating deals during a global health crisis, he is confident that players will be snapped up:

“We’re working hard on it. There’s always things that you need to sort of overcome on a daily basis, particularly at the moment with the way the world is in terms of the way we have discussions, and how we follow up on things.”

“But I’m still really happy with the way things are tracking and I still expect us to be well organised and have the people we want in place, hopefully, early in the transfer window. That’s been the plan all along, and I’ve been working with Michael [Nicholson] and the other key people at the club around that, and there’s nothing that’s happened that’s made me think that we won’t be on schedule with that.”

Most of the talk in recent days has been about the Hoops raiding the J-League for new recruits, following the success of Kyogo Furuhashi. Kawasaki Frontale midfielder Reo Hatate as well as Yokohama F. Marinos duo Daizen Maeda and Yosuke Ideguchi are all believed to be targets.

However, there have been other players mentioned, including Hearts defender John Souttar, Tottenham winger Dilan Markanday, Stade Brestois forward Jeremy Le Douaron and most recently Union Berlin left-back Niko Giesselmann. We shall have to wait and see which of these rumours turns out to be accurate.
