“Still There…” Anthony Joseph Makes Big Claim About Celtic’s Stance On Recruiting 5.1M Rated Playmaker

Outside of Celtic Park

Celtic remain interested in signing Paris Saint-Germain attacking midfielder Edouard Michut, according to Sky Sports journalist Anthony Joseph.

Manager Ange Postecoglou has denied that the Hoops are trying to sign the 19-year-old but Joseph believes a deal is still possible before the transfer window closes:

“The interest, as we understand, is still there. Postecoglou will obviously know more on how it’s developed, how Michut is feeling and his agent is feeling. Maybe there is a bit of frustration there as well, so we’ll see how it goes.”

The biggest obstacle is Michut’s price tag. PSG are reportedly holding out for as much as €6m (£5.1m), while Celtic are said to be only prepared to pay €2m (£1.7m). That is a sizeable gap to bridge.

As Joseph points out, the teenager is frustrated about the situation so he seems determined to leave the French capital. A potential avenue that could be explored is a loan deal.

The Hoops have shown with Jota and Cameron Carter-Vickers that they are willing to pay sizeable sums to secure players on a permanent basis following loan spells so, whether a similar agreement can be reached with PSG, we shall have to wait and see.
