Sutton Makes Prediction As To When Celtic May Consider Sacking Lennon

Ex-Celtic striker Chris Sutton says his former club may decide to sack manager Neil Lennon if he doesn’t get a positive result against Sparta Prague on Thursday evening.

The Hoops scrambled from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 against Hibernian yesterday afternoon, following a last-gasp equaliser from Diego Laxalt and, speaking after the draw, Sutton said the Scottish champions won’t be making a knee-jerk decision on Lennon’s future:

“They are not going to sack him tonight. I would be shocked. They might sack him after Prague, but not after this.”

After dropping two more points at Easter Road, Celtic are now 11 points behind Rangers at the top of the table following their Glasgow rivals’ 4-0 win over Aberdeen today.

Lennon’s side do have two games in hand but, despite it being so early in the season, it’s a huge gap to close, and many supporters are very unhappy with the team’s displays.

As Sutton says, Lennon is currently holding onto his job by the skin of his teeth and the result in Celtic’s next game in Prague could prove crucial.
