Sutton Thinks Celtic May Have A £20m Player Returning To The Ranks

Former Celtic forward Chris Sutton is hoping that Leigh Griffiths can return to his best form following three months out of action due to injury.

The TV pundit believes having the 29-year-old back fit and in top form could be like signing a new top-line striker, but he’s concerned whether we will actually see the best of the Scottish international:

“He has been through a lot and we want to see him coming back strongly and banging in goals for Celtic because if he gets back to that level then it would be like a £20million signing.”

“Griffiths will want to get back playing at a high level but there are question marks over whether he can and it’s not unreasonable to say that.”

Griffiths did score a brace for the reserves in a recent friendly against Stenhousemuir and he appears to be slowly getting back to full fitness.

Of course, playing at Lennoxtown is a far cry from returning to the hustle and bustle of the Scottish Premiership but manager Neil Lennon will be delighted to have him back in contention.

Vakoun Issouf Bayo’s knee injury means the Hoops boss has had very little opportunity to rest Odsonne Edouard, but Griffiths’ return to the fold could help the team massively in the busy festive period.
