“Not On The Agenda…” Sky Sports Journalist Makes Big Claim About Celtic Duo’s Future

Celtic pair Reo Hatate and Kyogo Furuhashi are not transfer targets for Tottenham, according to Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge.

There had been speculation that former Hoops boss Ange Postecoglou was keen on being reunited with the two players at his new team but Bridge says that is not the case:

“My understanding is that’s currently not on the agenda. Postecoglou’s knowledge of the Asian market played a key role in Celtic’s brilliant first season under the Australian. It ultimately blew their rivals away. Three of his very successful signings – Kyogo, Reo Hatate and Jota – will be upset about his departure and all look more than capable of playing at a higher level, but whether they are the required level for Tottenham is another question.”

With Jota seemingly poised to complete his move to Saudi Arabia, losing Hatate or Kyogo would have added salt to the wound, so it is very good news that the two Japanese stars are seemingly staying in Glasgow.

Kyogo has already signalled his intention to stay at Celtic

Bridge’s remarks come off the back of comments made by Kyogo himself, who says he is committed to the Scottish champions for the long term:

“I actually have valuable experiences at Celtic, and Celtic is a club with great history. There are many players who want to play here for as long as possible, including me.”

As well as being linked with a £30m switch to Spurs in recent months, Burnley have been mentioned as potential suitors but it seems that, for the moment, Kyogo is perfectly happy to remain where he is.

That will come as music to the ears of manager Brendan Rodgers, who will be keen to keep last season’s top scorer and Scottish PFA Player of the Year at the Hoops for as long as possible.
