Celtic are keeping tabs on Trabzonspor goalkeeper Ugurcan Cakir, according to Gunebakis.com.

The Turkish media outlet claims that the 27-year-old has been added to a “list” of targets as the Hoops consider possible replacements for Joe Hart.

Cakir is an experienced player, having been capped 26 times by Turkey, and it is believed that Celtic are keen on bringing in a new No.1 who can offer the same sort of qualities as Hart.

However, Trabzonspor are not expected to let their player leave without a fight and, for that reason, the Scottish champions have already looked into finding out how much it would cost to sign the keeper.

Cakir has attracted interest from big European clubs

The likes of Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund have been mentioned as potential suitors in the past but, despite links to other teams, the shot-stopper has remained loyal to Trabzonspor up until now.

Celtic could, though, prove to be an attractive destination for Cakir, considering their reputation and the fact that he would be brought in as the undisputed No.1.

Are Celtic looking at other goalkeepers?

With Hart having only recently announced that he will retire at the end of the season, the club’s search for his successor is likely to be still at an early stage.

Very few other names have been linked so far but one keeper who is known to be on the club’s radar is Liverpool No.2 Caoimhin Kelleher. The Republic of Ireland international put in a very impressive performance for the Reds in the Carabao Cup final last weekend.

The main stumbling block to a move going ahead, though, is the fee required to buy Kelleher. While Trabzonspor are not expected to let Cakir go on the cheap, he is unlikely to be anywhere near as expensive as the Liverpool keeper.
