Celtic attacking midfielder Ryan Christie picked up three assists as the Hoops got their league campaign up and running with a comprehensive 6-0 win over Dundee yesterday.
The 26-year-old created two goals for hat-trick hero Kyogo Furuhashi and one for the returning Tom Rogic. Fans on Twitter both praised the player’s display whilst calling on the club to hand him a new deal:
Unreal performance from him today

Lifetime contract.

Get him on the gold standard contract. He’s one of the best players at the club and should be paid as such. Just hope the previous derisory offer hasn’t made it impossible for us to now get him to stay.

Christie was absolutely hammered by supporters for some of his performances last season, and much of the criticism was justified as he was playing nowhere near his best.
However, manager Ange Postecoglou has managed to renergise the Scottish international. Whether that will be enough to persuade the midfielder into putting pen to paper on a contract extension, we shall have to wait and see.
Christie can talk to other clubs about a free transfer in January, so the worry will be he has already agreed to join someone else, but that may not be the case.
