‘Well, That Was Shortlived’ ‘Ruined My Week’ Fans React As Postecoglou Shuts Down Talk Linking Celtic With 2M Transfer

Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou has dismissed speculation linking the Hoops with a move for Paris Saint-Germain attacking midfielder Edouard Michut.

Reports had suggested that the Scottish champions were in talks to sign the 19-year-old for £2m but Postecoglou said that, while he rates the Frenchman, the club are not pursuing him:

“Yeah, good player, but no. I have an interest in every good footballer in the world, but there is a limited market which I can tap into.”

Unsurprisingly, supporters on Twitter (who had got themselves excited about the prospect of signing Michut) have been left rather disappointed by Postecoglou’s remarks:

To be honest, a bid for Michut did make a lot of sense, considering Celtic lost a playmaker in Tom Rogic at the end of last season. The Hoops also have a history of doing deals with PSG which would have made negotiations easier.

However, it could also be argued that signing a holding midfielder or another centre-half are bigger priorities, so if resources are devoted to strengthening those two positions instead, nobody will be complaining too much.
