Celtic midfielder Callum McGregor put in a top drawer display against Hamilton Academical in the 5-1 win yesterday evening.
The 27-year-old’s performance may have been overshadowed by hat-trick hero Odsonne Edouard on the night, but his passing was of the highest quality, and fans took to Twitter after the match to praise the player:
His stats were incredible. What a talent.

Think he gives us more in attack, he’s to good to be holding in midfield for me?

Proper box to box midfielder. He was creating chances up top and he was also cleaning up at the back. Was everywhere yesterday. Absolute class act.

If McGregor continues playing like that for the rest of the season, he will surely be a leading contender for the league’s player of the year.
The Scottish international did not put a foot wrong all evening and was the man controlling the game from the centre of the pitch as the Hoops come out comfortable winners.
McGregor’s consistency is something which can be underrated by some supporters at times, but with Scott Brown close to hanging up his boots, there is no doubt who the favourite is to take up the mantle when the current captain retires.
