Celtic are close to completing a loan move for Borussia Dortmund fullback Jeremy Toljan, according to reports in Germany.
The Hoops have been looking for a new right-back throughout the January transfer window but have been left frustrated in their attempts.
The Scottish club have seemingly missed out on Omar Elabdellaoui to Southampton and were priced out of a move for Atalanta’s
Timothy Castagne.
It will be Celtic’s fourth loan signing this month, and fans are not convinced that signing Toljan is the best solution unless there is an option to buy in the summer:
Too many loans.

Loans better than nothing ! Six months to run rule over him and see if he is worth money isn’t a bad thing

I dont think long terms loans help the developement of the squad. If no buy option at the end its just filling a short term gap imo

I myself have been saying PL needs to back rodgers but for me this looks more of a rodgers signing than a PL signing, think we will try and get him in permanent in the summer if the stuff ive seen about gumny being a summer target arent true.

Obviously a loan with no option to buy is not ideal but we need a RB for the remainder of the season.

It probably take about a month to get him fit.hes no played a game in ages

We are brutal. Half a team made up of loan players…. once they all go back we can start up a 5–side league

Not a lot happening at the level we’re operating at,if we bring in another loan and it helps get us over the line then I’ll settle for that.

Toljan was signed by Dortmund from Hoffenheim for £6m, having played 23 games for the Bundesliga club last season. However, under manager Lucien Favre this campaign, he has not made a single first-team appearance.
The former German Under 21 international has reportedly been told he can leave in search of first-team football and it appears his destination will be Celtic Park.
