Agent Of Celtic Target Speaks Out On Potential January Transfer

The agent of Bristol City winger Niclas Eliasson has poured cold water on speculation linking the 24-year-old with a move away from Ashton Gate in the January transfer window.

The former Swedish Under 21 international’s contract expires at the end of the season but his representative Hasan Cetinkaya has revealed that the Robins have the option of extending his stay at the Championship club for another year:

“No, it’s going to be difficult. Bristol want to keep him for their aims to move up. Then he has an option in his contract the club will use.”

“Interest comes from big clubs and major leagues and clubs are looking to buy him now but Bristol has said no. That’s all I can say right now. But in the summer window, something big could happen to Niclas.”

Last week, it was claimed the Celtic, Lazio and Villarreal had taken a keen interest in Eliasson after his excellent performances for Bristol City in the English second tier this campaign.

The Swede has scored three goals and contributed 11 assists in just 27 appearances this season and he has played an integral role in Lee Johnson’s side’s push for the playoffs.

It does, however, look as though the Hoops will have to look elsewhere to sign a winger before the transfer deadline later this week.
