Charlton Athletic manager Lee Bowyer has confirmed that the English League One side have rejected a bid from Celtic for wingback Alfie Doughty.
The Addicks boss revealed the Hoops had officials in attendance when his team faced Swindon Town in the Carabao Cup at the weekend, but they have not had any further contact since they turned down the first offer.
Doughty is one of two fullbacks that the Hoops are currently targeting. PSG’s Mitchel Bakker is also being pursued and fans on Twitter have been discussing who the club should sign:
Bakker all day long even if it is just a loan

A charlton player or an Ajax trained PSG player , that’s a tough one

Bakker looks exactly what we need

I’ll have the Bakker please. Do you do next day delivery ?

Surely anyone named Alfie Doughty would sign wearing a flat cap

I’d side with the permanent transfer. Doughty and Frimpong would give us 2 rapido wing backs.

Yes Bakker for me
— Gerry Brown (@GerrybBrown) September 6, 2020
Mitchell bakker is a top top player, he would be one of the best in our team if he came

Sign both.

With Celtic reportedly asking Charlton to name their price for Doughty, it does seem like the 20-year-old is the more likely out of the two to arrive before the transfer window shuts next month.
Reports in the Netherlands suggest Bakker is not interested in leaving PSG on loan, which indicates that the Scottish champions may well pull back from any attempt to sign him.
