Manchester City, AC Milan and Burnley have joined Celtic in the battle for Bologna left-back Aaron Hickey, according to reports in the Italian media.

The Hoops originally tried to sign the teenager before he made the switch to Italy last year but they have kept tabs on his progress in Serie A.

However, it seems like Hickey’s performances for Bologna have also attracted the interest of other teams. City are believed to have scouted the defender, while seven-time European champions Milan have also been impressed with his development.

Previous reports have suggested that Bologna may demand as much as €8m (£6.75m) for the player and, if that figure turns out to be accurate, then Celtic may have to withdraw from the pursuit of the 19-year-old.

In an interview back in November, Hickey said that he made the “right choice” in moving to Italy, and it doesn’t look like he’ll be coming back to Scotland anytime soon.
