Celtic are interested in Argentinos Juniors midfielder Fausto Vera, according to reports in the Turkish media.

The 22-year-old was heavily linked with a move to Europe in 2020, when Galatasaray, Torino and Spartak Moscow all considered signing the player.

Vera remained in Argentina but it appears that he could well be leaving his homeland this summer. While Celtic are keen on doing a deal, Belgian Pro League outfit Gent are the team who have reportedly made the first offer.

A bid of around €6m (£5m) has been tabled, although (at the time of writing) it is unclear whether the proposal will be accepted by Argentinos.

Vera is highly regarded in his country, and he has made eight appearances for Argentina’s Under 23 side over the past few years. With just eighteen months left on his contract, it’s unlikely that his club would hold out for a huge fee but we shall see if Celtic do make a move for the midfielder.
