Celtic Given Major Injury Boost Ahead Of Crunch European Tie

Celtic winger James Forrest could be fit to face Valencia next week in the first leg of the Europa League knockout round, according to reports.

The 27-year-old picked up a hamstring injury against St Johnstone in the 2-0 win on Sunday, but scans have shown that the problem is not as serious as initially feared.

If Forrest is fit for the European clash, it would come as a huge boost to manager Brendan Rodgers who is currently without a number of first-team players.

The Hoops’ injury list is currently in double figures. The likes of Mikael Lustig, Filip Benkovic, Kieran Tierney, Tom Rogic and Eboue Kouassi are all on the treatment table, with only Olivier Ntcham and Dedryck Boyata having a chance of being fit to face Valencia.

Celtic have included Timothy Weah, Oliver Burke and Jeremy Toljan in their Europa League squad for the knockout stages. With Odsonne Edouard having picked up a knock against St Johnstone and Leigh Griffiths still absent, the added firepower will be very welcome.
