Celtic Injury News Ahead Of Greenock Morton Cup Clash

Celtic will take on Scottish Championship outfit Greenock Morton in the fourth round of the Scottish Cup on Saturday, January 21 at Celtic Park. The Bhoys haven’t won the trophy since 2020 – can they address their minor cup drought this season?

Celts boss Ange Postecoglou will be thankful that his injury list for the game against Morton isn’t too extensive. This being said, three of his players are confirmed absentees for Saturday’s match.

The first of which is Cameron Carter-Vickers. Having been out of action since Early November, he is making improvements, but won’t be fit enough to feature against Morton.

Anthony Ralston will also miss out after suffering a setback in his rehabilitation. Additionally, while he is making ‘good progress’, Benjamin Siegrist will also be absent for the cup game.

It isn’t all bad news for Postecoglou and Celtic fans, however. Georgios Giakoumakis is fit to play after missing Celtic’s last SPFL game against St. Mirren – whether he will feature against Morton or not is another proposition, though.

Last season’s Scottish Cup was won by Celtic’s bitterest of rivals – Rangers, after they beat Hearts in the final. Can the Bhoys pull one back this year, or will it be another season without cup success?
