Celtic Join Manchester City And Leicester In Pursuing 25 Year Old Defender As Postecoglou Steps Up Transfer Plans

Celtic are watching AIK Solna left-back Erick Otieno, according to reports in the Swedish media.

The 25-year-old has also been scouted by Manchester City and Leicester pretty recently, but it appears that the Hoops are the team likeliest to make a move for the defender at the moment.

Manager Ange Postecoglou is believed to be keen on providing competition for Greg Taylor. The Scottish champions have already been credited with an interest in Velez Sarsfield’s Francisco Ortega and Hammarby’s Mohanad Jeahze in recent weeks and it looks as though Otieno is another option being considered.

The fullback is in fact an international teammate of Gent defender Joseph Okumu, who was linked with a move to Parkhead last week.

Celtic have yet to make a formal approach for Otieno so it remains to be seen whether the Kenyan will be the club’s number one target to reinforce the left-hand side of defence.
