Celtic have entered the race to sign Coventry midfielder Gustavo Hamer according to reports in the English media.

Rangers have previously been linked with the former Netherlands youth international, and it is believed that the two Glasgow rivals could battle it out for the player’s signature, along with three English Premier League clubs.

Leeds, Brentford and Norwich City are also thought to be keeping tabs on Hamer, who has impressed with his performances in the English Championship this campaign.

In 27 appearances for Coventry, the Dutchman has scored two goals and contributed six assists, helping his team to tenth in the table, only three points off the playoffs.

Hamer is reportedly locked in talks over a new contract but, despite his current deal expiring at the end of next season, Coventry are said to have slapped a £5m price tag on the midfielder. It’s very likely that Celtic are looking to snap him up on a pre-contract agreement in the New Year.
