Celtic Manager Search Dealt Major Setback As Candidate Holds Talks With Another Club

Eddie Howe has held talks about taking over from Roy Hodgson at Crystal Palace this summer, according to reports in England.

Celtic were believed to have an agreement in principle with the former Bournemouth manager, but the 43-year-old has been dragging his heels, prompting fears that he is simply using the Hoops to secure himself a position at an English Premier League side.

Howe’s apparent discussions with Palace would confirm those worries, although it is thought that the Eagles are only sounding out potential candidates currently, with it not being certain that Hodgson will leave Selhurst Park when his contract expires in June.

For their part, Celtic are reportedly keeping their options open, considering other possible avenues. Former Borussia Dortmund head coach Lucien Favre has been mentioned as a contender, although it is believed that Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal could snap him up. Roy Keane would be the other likely candidate.
