Celtic See Off Arsenal As They Snap Up Teenage Forward On Three Year Deal

Celtic have beaten Arsenal to the signing of Scunthorpe United forward Joey Dawson. The Hoops have confirmed that the 18-year-old has joined the club on a three-year contract.

The Englishman is now expected to play for Celtic’s reserves, with the Colts making their debut in the Lowland League next season.

Arsenal had been tracking Dawson after he became the youngest player to make his first-team debut for Scunthorpe. He came on as a substitute in a Carabao Cup tie against Derby at the start of the 2019/20 season.

However, the teenager hasn’t featured in the senior side for the English League Two club since then, and he will be hoping to kickstart his career by impressing for Tommy McIntyre’s team.

Dawson will officially move to Celtic Park on July 1st. He will join another young English prospect, Liam Shaw, who will make the switch from Sheffield Wednesday after compensation was agreed with the Owls.
