Celtic Switch Targets After Seeing £3m Deal Collapse

Celtic have opted against signing Kilmarnock left-back Greg Taylor, according to multiple reports in the Scottish media. The Hoops have decided against meeting the Scottish international’s £3m asking price.

There was optimism at the end of last week that a deal for the 21-year-old could be agreed, with the defender having missed the 0-0 draw against Aberdeen on Saturday with a move to Parkhead expected to be completed.

However, Celtic have now begun looking at alternative targets, with Rosenborg fullback Birger Meling now back on the Scottish champions’ agenda.

There was talk earlier this month that the Norwegian was close to making a switch to Scotland, but it appears that the Hoops were initially prioritising the signing of Taylor instead.

With the Kilmarnock defender now out of the frame, a bid for Meling before the transfer deadline closes is now looking very likely. Celtic don’t have a lot of time to get the deal done with the window shutting on Monday.
