Celtic Talisman’s Future Could Be Decided Within The Next 24 Hours

Celtic captain Scott Brown‘s future at the club beyond the end of the season could be decided today, according to reports.

It is believed the 33-year-old has had a new contract offer on the table from the Hoops since the start of the campaign but has reportedly been holding out on signing a new deal until he knows whether he has an offer from Australia.

Western Melbourne are hoping to become one of two new franchises in an expanded A-League for next season, although there has been some debate over whether an expansion takes place in 2019 or 2020.

The Australian club are hoping to recruit Brown as their marquee signing for their inaugural campaign, but are waiting to see if they will be playing in Australia’s top league with approval needed from the Football Federation of Australia (FFA).

The Aussie football association’s board is said to be meeting on Thursday to discuss the expansion plans with a decision likely to be made during the night UK time.

Brown has been at Celtic for eleven and a half years, after joining from Hibernian in the summer of 2007.
