Charlie Nicholas Predicts Where Postecoglou Would Go IF He Decides To Leave Celtic

Former Sky Sports pundit Charlie Nicholas believes that Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou may leave Parkhead for a club on the continent, rather than move down south to the Premier League.

The Australian has been linked with posts at Brighton and Leicester City over the past month but Nicholas is expecting Postecoglou to stay with the Hoops for now as he senses that his next job could be in another part of Europe:

“I have the feeling he is enjoying where he is and he wants to achieve more at Celtic. However, I think if he continues to bring success then it will lead to offers and I get the feeling he would like to work in Europe rather than England. Brendan Rodgers couldn’t wait to leave Celtic after falling out with Peter Lawwell and now he’s under pressure and Leicester don’t look like a great option for anyone right now.”

What basis Nicholas has for the assumptions he is making about Postecoglou’s future is anyone’s guess, but he is probably right to say that the 57-year-old would not be keen on replacing Brendan Rodgers at Leicester.

However, considering all the speculation surrounding Postecoglou, you would hope that Celtic are taking a look at his contract situation. He is reportedly on a rolling one-year deal and the board should offer him a longer-term arrangement, which would protect him from being prised away in the future.
