Sheffield United’s George Baldock is one of the right-backs being targeted by Celtic, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

The Italian journalist claims that the 28-year-old is on a shortlist, along with Rennes’ Brandon Soppy and Royal Antwerp’s Aurelio Buta:

Reports in the local media suggest Baldock could be the subject of a bid between £5m and £8m from Celtic, although it is thought even offers around those figures could be rejected, as the Blades believe he is worth more than that.

Soppy would be a slightly cheaper alternative, with the French press claiming he could be sold for €5m (£4.3m) but, as Romano mentions, there is competition from Watford and Udinese.

Out of the three, it looks as if Buta is the most likely to be signed currently. It is believed that the Hoops are already in negotiations with Antwerp but there has been no indication about how far talks have progressed.
