Celtic midfielder Ryan Christie suffered an awful facial injury during an aerial challenge with Aberdeen‘s Dominic Ball in the Scottish Cup semi-final at the weekend.
The 24-year-old took to social media to thank supporters for their ‘get well soon’ messages. He even had time for a light-hearted joke about his injury:
“Rumour has it we won 3-0… Thank you so much to everyone for all the amazing messages and support.”
Fans on Twitter were wishing Christie well and also got involved with some humorous replies:

Christie will have surgery on multiple facial fractures this Thursday, the club have confirmed. It is yet to be determined how long he will be out for.
The midfielder had only recently returned from a thigh strain that had kept him out for the best part of a month. Despite his fitness issues, his 11 goals and nine assists in all competitions this season have made him an important creative outlet for the Hoops.
With his increasing importance to the first team, supporters will be hoping that Christie returns to action as quickly as possible
