Former Premier League star Robbie Slater says interest from the likes of Chelsea and Tottenham in his fellow countryman Ange Postecoglou is fully deserved.

Both English teams have been linked with the Celtic manager in recent weeks and Slater believes the Australian’s style of play has helped him become a contender for some prestigious jobs:

“I think (it’s) deserved. I think he’s grown a great reputation… it’s not just his success, it’s the way it’s happening. It’s the style of football. It’s certainly rarely been seen (in Scotland), this style of football that Ange has brought. And he’s done it with every club he’s been to, to be fair to him.”

While some supporters will be concerned that Postecoglou could up sticks at the end of the season and move to England, it doesn’t look as if either Chelsea or Spurs are prioritising an approach for the Hoops boss at this time.

Chelsea are seemingly set to appoint Mauricio Pochettino, while their London rivals are not expected to add Postecoglou to their shortlist of options.

As things stand, the 57-year-old looks certain to be in the dugout for the start of next season, but his outstanding work in Glasgow is certainly not going unnoticed elsewhere in the world of football.
