Journalist Suggests “£15M To £20M” Asking Price For Celtic Star As EPL Clubs Circle

Celtic could demand around “£15m to £20m” for midfielder Matt O’Riley, according to journalist Peter O’Rourke.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that the 22-year-old is attracting interest from English Premier League teams but O’Rourke says that the Hoops won’t let the player leave on the cheap:

“I think for even Celtic to contemplate selling him, it would have to be a big fee; you’re probably looking around the £15m to £20m mark for Matt O’Riley if he continues the progress that he has shown up in Scotland. He’s also a Denmark international as well and also his age, I think, would maybe put the price tag up, as I think he’ll only get better with time.”

With the likes of Arsenal, Manchester United, Liverpool, Newcastle, Leicester and Crystal Palace having all been linked with O’Riley in recent months, it remains to be seen whether he will stay at the club this summer.

The midfielder is said to be happy to remain at Parkhead, so Celtic are right to be bullish when it comes to the 22-year-old’s asking price.

O’Riley has had a very impressive first full season in Scotland, scoring four goals and providing 12 assists in 45 appearances. From the sound of things, the Hoops should be able to keep hold of him for a little while longer, unless a team comes in and meets his sky-high valuation.
