Lennon Raises New Injury Concern About Celtic Star

Celtic manager Neil Lennon has revealed that centre-back Kristoffer Ajer has picked up a new injury problem following the 5-0 win against St Mirren.

The Hoops boss confirmed that the Norwegian international had sustained a calf injury, although he said he was hoping that it wasn’t a serious issue.

Ajer was taken off with ten minutes to go at Parkhead yesterday, being replaced by the fit-again Hatem Abd-Elhamed, with his side already 4-0 up

The Norwegian was a doubt before the 2-2 draw against Livingston midweek due to a thigh problem, but he recovered in time to play the full 90 minutes last Wednesday.

Celtic are pretty short of cover at centre-back at the moment. Jozo Simunovic is still sidelined with a knee injury, while Abd-Elhamed has not started a game for four months following a groin issue. Lennon will be keeping his fingers crossed that Ajer’s injury is only a knock and nothing more.
