“Like A Warrior” Sutton Hails Celtic Summer Signing After Copenhagen Display

Former Celtic striker Chris Sutton has praised Christopher Jullien for his outstanding performance in the 1-1 draw against FC Copenhagen on Thursday night.

The Frenchman was brave in his challenges, picking up a bang to the head in the process in the first half after an aerial duel, and Sutton thinks the Frenchman has been worth every penny of the £7m the Hoops paid for the centre-back in the summer:

“Fearless Christopher Jullien was like a warrior at times in Copenhagen. It was a good sign for Neil Lennon because he needs as many characters as he can find at the moment going into the crucial run-in to the season…”

“Seeing Jullien play with the type of authority he exerted in Denmark will have been hugely encouraging. The French defender has never looked back since he had that starring performance at Ibrox against Rangers at the beginning of the season.”

“Sure there’s been the odd moment, but, in the main, he’s developed into the sort of stopper you would expect to be getting when you shell out £7million.”

Jullien has certainly proved to be influential, both domestically and in Europe this season. He has started 25 of Celtic’s 27 league games, helping his side maintain the joint best defensive record in the Scottish Premiership.

The 26-year-old has proven to be an asset in the opponent’s penalty box as well, scoring the memorable winner against Rangers in the Betfred Cup final back in early December. His contributions both defensively and offensively have been important this campaign and Sutton’s praise is fully merited.
