Postecoglou Confirms Three Celtic Stars Could Return For Aberdeen Clash

Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou has revealed that World Cup trio Cameron Carter-Vickers, Aaron Mooy and Daizen Maeda are available for selection and could face Aberdeen this afternoon.

All three players were part of teams who were knocked out at the last 16 stage and Postecoglou says they have all returned to training with the Hoops after resting for seven days:

“They’ve all had a week off; all the boys had a week off after Australia. once the guys you mentioned finished their world cup commitments we gave them the week off, and that’s plenty. I think their eager to be back and play their part.”

Carter-Vickers is likely to be the freshest out of the three who have returned from Qatar. The 24-year-old played just once for the USA in the 1-0 win over Iran, and he was an unused substitute in the other three games.

Mooy, meanwhile, played the full 90 minutes in all four of Australia’s matches before they were knocked out by Argentina.  Maeda started three of Japan’s four fixtures as their run in the tournament was ended following a penalty shootout loss to Croatia.

Josip Juranovic won’t, though, be available for at least another week. Croatia are set to face Morocco in the third-place playoff, although the fullback is unlikely to play after sustaining a calf injury in the semi-final.
