Sutton Would Back Old Firm To Finish Above United And Arsenal

Celtic striker Chris Sutton is not shy of a bit of controversy and he opened a can of worms on Twitter last night when he suggested that both Manchester United and Arsenal would struggle to finish ahead of Celtic and Rangers if they played in Scotland.

The Red Devils and the Gunners played out a dreary 1-1 draw at Old Trafford yesterday, in a match bereft of quality, and responding to a tweet that said that both teams would still beat the Old Firm, Sutton replied:

There is a lot of disrespect from fans south of the border regarding the quality of Scottish football, but with both teams having comfortably made it into the Europa League group stages, it can hardly be argued that the Glasgow rivals lack quality.

Arsenal currently sit fifth in the Premier League, while Manchester United are currently a lowly tenth, with neither having qualified for the Champions League last season, so Sutton does have a decent case.
