Real Sociedad are expected to challenge Atletico Madrid for the signature of Celtic fullback Josip Juranovic, according to reports.

Both La Liga teams are said to be weighing up moves for the Croatian international, who has impressed for his country at the World Cup.

Atletico are reportedly even preparing to send a scout out to Qatar to watch Juranovic in action, with Croatia set to take on Brazil on Friday evening.

Talks between the Hoops and the 27-year-old over a new contract have broken down. It is believed that the defender will be leaving Scotland when the transfer window opens next month, with the likes of West Ham, Chelsea and Manchester United also having been linked.

A fee of around £10m is likely to be demanded for Juranovic. That is slightly less than previous reports that claimed that Celtic had set an asking price of around £15m for the right-back, but it will still mean the Scottish champions will make a £7.5m profit on the player.
