World Cup Star Confirms “Talks” With Celtic As Club Look To Seal Fourth January Signing

Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors striker Cho Gue-sung has confirmed that he has had “talks” with Celtic over a potential move to Scotland.

The South Korean, who scored twice for his country at the World Cup, has said a switch to the Hoops would be an enticing prospect:

“Celtic have six Japanese players in its squad. As you can see there, it is a team that has invested heavily in the Asian market over the past few years and there have been talks.”

Cho did, however, deny reports that Galatasaray have tabled an offer for him, which will be a big boost to Ange Postecoglou side’s chances of securing the forward’s signature this month.

However, it is believed the Scottish champions have yet to agree a fee for the 24-year-old, which means other clubs (including Rennes and Fenerbahce) could still hijack the transfer.

Cho is thought to be determined to move to Europe in January, but, by the look of things, this deal may take a while to be finalised. Celtic have already made three additions to their squad in the current transfer window, having recruited Alistair Johnson, Yuki Kobayashi and Tomoki Iwata.
